As I developing my blogging and affiliate marketing skills, I had to research words I didn’t understand

constantly.  I have compiled a list of terms and definitions to help you so you won’t run into the same problems.

Note: This list is constantly growing

AFFILIATE PROGRAM – an arrangement in which the advertiser pays commissions to affiliates.

The commission model is usually based on actions performed by users. It usually involves lead generation, subscription to a service, etc.

AFFILIATE NETWORK – acts as an intermediary between affiliates and advertisers.

CONVERSION – an event generated by a user that an advertiser is willing to pay for

CLICK-THROUGH RATE (CTR) – the percentage of clicks for the number of advertising impressions displayed to visitors or bought from other networks.

CLICK-THROUGH RATE (CTR) – the percentage of clicks for the number of advertising impressions displayed to visitors or bought from other networks.

COST PER ACTION (CPA) – This is an affiliate model that rewards you for generating leads. You don’t have to make an actual sale to earn. This is common with loans and credit niches.

CONVERSTION – This is an event generated by a user that the merchant is willing to pay for. This can be clicks, leads or sales

EARNINGS PER CLICK (EPC) – Depicts the average Affiliate earnings per 100 clicks across all Affiliates in a Merchant’s program. The formula for this is (Commission Earned/Clicks) x 100.

TRACKING LINK Also known as the affiliate link. This is your inique link that leads to the offer and attributes as the referrer. Thus, this is the link you will be using to promote your partner’s products
